
The Lung Health Foundation mourns of loss of The Honourable Dr. Kirsty Duncan, who passed Jan. 26, 2026. Dr. Kirsty Duncan was a passionate advocate and a tireless champion for health, science, and public service. Her leadership and commitment to improving the lives of Canadians were evident in every role she held, from her work as a scientist and educator to her distinguished career in public office. Dr. Duncan served five terms as Member of Parliament for Etobicoke North and held senior roles in government, including Minister of Science and Sport, where she advanced evidence-informed policy and championed equity and safe sport.
As a board member of the Lung Health Foundation, Dr. Duncan brought her expertise, curiosity, and dedication to our mission of improving lung health outcomes for all Canadians. Her insights helped shape our new strategic vision, and her work inspired Canadians to engage in better lung health, research, and policy. Beyond her professional accomplishments, Kirsty was known for her generosity, integrity, and unwavering kindness.
