Meet Delanya Podgers
Delanya Podgers brings more than 20 years of experience across clinical practice, research, and health system leadership in respiratory care. She currently serves as Nurse Practitioner and Clinical Lead for the Asthma and COPD Program at Kingston Health Sciences Centre, where she has helped design and implement integrated models of care that better support patients living with chronic lung conditions.
Her work reflects a strong focus on bridging clinical excellence with real-world application—ensuring that best practices translate into meaningful improvements in patient care and outcomes.
A Leader in Asthma and COPD Care
Delanya is widely recognized for her contributions to advancing asthma care in Canada. She has played a key role in shaping best practice guidelines and has been actively involved in initiatives led by the Canadian Thoracic Society.
Her experience spans clinical innovation, system improvement, and research, with multiple peer-reviewed publications focused on enhancing care delivery and patient outcomes. She is also currently pursuing a PhD in Nursing at Queen’s University, further deepening her expertise and commitment to advancing evidence-based practice.
Driving Impact Through PCAP
As Medical Director of PCAP, Delanya will help guide the program’s clinical direction and support the continued evolution of integrated care models for asthma and COPD. Her leadership will play an important role in strengthening collaboration across primary care teams and ensuring patients receive consistent, high-quality care.
With a strong commitment to patient-centred approaches and collaborative leadership, she brings both strategic insight and practical experience to this role.
