Award Description:
The Career Establishment Research Award aims to boost research capacity in lung disease by assisting early to mid-career investigators. It serves as vital support for independent research, with a focus on establishing successful research programs.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Full-time researcher at eligible CIHR, SHRC, or NSERC institution.
- 6-10 years from the first academic appointment.
- Previously awarded less than CAN$500,000 as the Principal Investigator.
- Submit a lung health-relevant research proposal.
- Not holding funding from the tobacco industry.
Award Value and Terms:
- Up to $75,000 for one year, dedicated to covering direct costs related to the research proposal. The funds aim to advance impactful research aligned with LHF’s strategic goals.
Application Requirements:
- Submit an Intent to Apply form by Feb 11th, 2024, 4:00 pm ET.
- Full application due by March 22nd, 2024, 4:00 pm ET.
- Ensure all supporting documentation is submitted via SurveyMonkey Apply.
Review Process and Criteria:
- Rigorous scientific review based on criteria such as research approach, originality, applicant’s background, research environment, and impact. Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion are considered, aligning with LHF goals.
Use of Awards:
- Grant funds support direct research costs. No funding for institutional overheads or indirect costs. Unspent balance considerations, patent rights, and acknowledgment requirements apply.
