The Lung Health Foundation’s Better Breathing Week is the place to be if you’re passionate about respiratory health, and it’s one of Canada’s only respiratory events that unites education, policy, and research.
A critical part of bridging the gap between research, education and policy is communicating research findings clearly.
If we’re going to make waves and create a better breathing Canada, we need you at the table. That’s why you are invited to enter the Better Breathing Rapid-Fire Thesis Competition.
About the competition
The Better Breathing Rapid-Fire Thesis Competition aims to support professional development, communication, and knowledge translation among graduate students conducting lung health research. But there’s a twist.
This competition challenges student researchers to communicate a compelling story about the impact of their research projects to an interdisciplinary audience – without using jargon – in just three minutes and with just one PowerPoint slide!
Through an official application process, we’ll be selecting up to fifteen applicants to present their theses in a fun and informative in-person session at Better Breathing Week 2025. If selected, these finalists will also have access to a student mentorship session and all other sessions at the conference, including our networking Social.
Travel support funding (so you can join us in Toronto!)
In the past, tight personal budgets and packed academic schedules have meant that emerging lung health researchers sometimes missed out on Better Breathing Week’s eye-opening talks, networking opportunities, and workshops.
The Lung Health Foundation is proud to be offering a solution!
The Better Breathing Rapid-Fire Thesis Competition will take place on January 24, 2025 at the Intercontinental Hotel in downtown Toronto. We recognize that getting here can be challenging, and that’s why we’re offering reimbursement of up to $1,300 CAD per selected finalist to assist with expenses like economy-level flights, mileage, and accommodations.
Selected finalists will also benefit from free conference registration, a value of $215 CAD.
