Transforming Care for Canadians with Lung Cancer: Join Us in Making a Difference!

We believe that every Canadian living with lung cancer deserves equitable access to quality care, and we’re not alone. In fact, we’re teaming up with three other passionate private and public sector organizations who, like us, are working tirelessly to build a better, more inclusive lung cancer landscape. The result of this collaboration? Up to $200,0000 in grants for quality improvement projects that could be lifechanging (even lifesaving) for Canadians living with metastatic non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC).

The Lung Health Foundation is proud to stand alongside the Lung Cancer Canada, Quebec Lung Association, and Pfizer Global Medical Grants (GMG) program teams as we launch this unique Request for Proposals.

In February 2024, Pfizer joins forces with the Lung Health Foundation (LHF), Lung Cancer Canada (LCC), and the Quebec Lung Association (QLA) to spearhead a groundbreaking initiative. This collaborative effort aims to revolutionize the care and outcomes for Canadians battling metastatic non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), with a pivotal focus on enhancing health equity within this community.

Meet the Collaborators

  • Lung Health Foundation (LHF): Committed to advancing lung health nationwide, LHF empowers individuals grappling with lung diseases through advocacy, education, and support programs.
  • Lung Cancer Canada (LCC): Canada’s premier resource for lung cancer, LCC leads the charge in patient support, research, and advocacy efforts, amplifying awareness and driving change.
  • Quebec Lung Association (QLA): Established in 1938, QLA pioneers respiratory health initiatives, offering research, education, and services for those affected by lung ailments.
  • Pfizer: Through its Global Medical Grants program, Pfizer champions independent initiatives to enhance patient outcomes, aligning with Pfizer’s medical and scientific strategies.

The Call to Action: Request for Proposals (RFP)

  • The collaborators issue a call for proposals targeting quality improvement initiatives aimed at elevating the care and outcomes of Canadians living with metastatic NSCLC. Central to this endeavor is the imperative to bridge disparities and promote health equity across diverse populations.

Understanding the Landscape

  • Lung cancer stands as the most prevalent cancer and a leading cause of cancer-related deaths in Canada. NSCLC accounts for the lion’s share of lung cancer cases, unveiling stark disparities in care access and outcomes. Factors such as socio-economic status, age, race, gender, and geography amplify these inequities, necessitating targeted interventions.

Eligibility and Scope

  • Geographic Scope: Canada-wide, with a focus on local, regional, or provincial/territorial initiatives.
  • Applicant Criteria: Open to diverse organizations fostering healthcare improvement, including professional schools, healthcare institutions, associations, and government agencies.
  • Clinical Area: Metastatic non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC).
  • Specific Area of Interest: Projects targeting health equity for Canadians with metastatic NSCLC, addressing disparities, implementing value-based healthcare, and optimizing multidisciplinary care models.
