Dear Valued Supporter,
Many kids and teens are heading back to school this week. About 900,000 of them have asthma, just like me.
There’s something really important that I want them to know: We may need to modify our activities a little bit, but people living with asthma can do amazing things when we have the right information, treatment, and support.
My experience competing in the Olympics and Pan Am Games is one that I never would have had if I hung up my goggles after my diagnosis at 17. Resources like the asthma care checklist on the Lung Health Foundation’s Asthma and Kids page can play a big role in protecting kids from asthma flare-ups now while making sure they can stay active for life!
Yours in lung health,
Maggie Mac Neil
Stop the September Spike!
The first week of school is the perfect time for Maggie’s message of hope because of the September Spike — a serious increase in asthma flare-ups coinciding with back-to-school season. Families can prevent many instances of flare-ups by following the strategies outlined in our Asthma and Kids resource page.
This pediatric asthma awareness initiative was made possible through a partnership between the Lung Health Foundation, The Mitchell and Kathryn Baran Family Foundation, Trudell Medical International and Trudell Healthcare Solutions.
Help us reach more families.
Your donation today can help ensure that kids with asthma have access to the tools, education, and support they need to thrive, this school year and beyond. Together, we can prevent flare-ups and keep more children active, healthy, and safe.
