The Public Health Agency of Canada has recommended that we all practice social distancing in order to mitigate the spread of COVID-19. The Lung Health Foundation supports these measures. Social distancing not only potentially takes weight off of our health services that could be overwhelmed without these precautions, but it also lessens the risk for Canadians who are immune-compromised, living with asthma, COPD, or lung cancer.
Even if you are perfectly healthy and young it is important to follow the advice of Health Canada. We all know someone who could be at great risk should they get sick. It is up to all of us to do our part during this trying time.
So, what should you be doing right now if you are able to stay at home?
Do’s
Play video games
Watch a movie at home
Video chat or call your friends
Don’ts
Do not throw parties

While you implement and practice social distancing it is important to still practice regular handwashing and proper respiratory etiquette, that means coughing into the bend of your arm not your hands and wearing a mask if you are sick.
If you are looking for more information on the do’s and don’ts of social distancing please read Health Canada’s community measures.
Stay well, and listen to the advice of Health Canada.
